February Building Permit Single-Family Building Permit Numbers Rise Once Again in April
Indianapolis, IN - April building permit reports indicate that in the Greater Indianapolis Nine-County area, Single-Family Building Permits rose 14 percent compared to 2015 numbers and rose 16 percent over last month. As of April 2016, there were 1,832 new home permits issued year-to-date compared to
1,612 last year.
“Local area home builders are optimistic with the rise in permit numbers and expect to see steady growth over the coming months here in Central Indiana,” says Steve Lains, CEO of the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis. “Wearestillseeingstrugglesin the marketplace in terms of affordability and land shortages but I expect the pent-up
demand will outweigh those struggles and ultimately lead to some positive numbers this summer,” says Lains.
In the Greater Indianapolis Nine-County region, the permits issued in April 2016 have created a total economic impact of $328,081,527 in local income, $74,479,938 in local taxes, and 5,555 local jobs (see chart below).
