Blouberg
AREA OVERVIEW
The extensive coast of Blouberg has been one of Cape Town’s defining features since the days
of the early settlers. In the ’60s and 70’s the white sandy beaches were used as a picnic getaway
for families and holidaymakers looking to get away from the centre of the city and head to the
blue beaches to relax. Gradually as the population grew in Cape Town, homes started being
built in Milnerton and Milnerton Central, along the lagoon, where wild horses would roam in
people’s gardens where they felt safe. Soon the coast would be scattered with communities,
living the suburban dream. A small main road was used each day to drive to work and back in
Cape Town’s City Centre, while still maintaining a gorgeous beach lifestyle at home.
Today, Blouberg has many areas filled with
a variety of people. Nestled between the
West Coast road and the Blouberg
beachfront, Bloubergrant, Blouberg Rise,
Blouberg Sands and West Beach. Blouberg
ranks as one of the top kitesurfing beaches
in the world and hosts the annual Red Bull
King of the Air Competition which attracts
competitors and visitors from all over the
world. The area is within walking distance
of Blouberg beach with postcard views as
far as the eye can see.
The Blouberg beachfront offers fabulous
restaurants, eateries and local pubs. With an
abundance of lively businesses and multiple
medical care facilities, blouberg can meet
anyones needs. There are approximately 20
schools in the area, including several private
schools as well as top-class childcare and pre-
school facilities. The Blouberg area has enjoyed
excellent capital value growth and is regarded
as an excellent property investment area. With
its broad range of properties to choose from,
ranging from flats to luxury beach apartments,
townhouse complexes and many security
estates, it becomes clear why Blouberg is so
highly sought after by many.
