THE RISE OF CYBER THREATS ON SOCIAL MEDIA
CYBER BULLYING & HARASSMENT
In the Philippines, cyberbullying is addressed under the Cybercrime
Prevention Act of 2012 (RA 10175) and the Anti-Bullying Act of 2013
(RA 10627). Cybercrime penalties can range from imprisonment
(prision mayor or reclusion temporal) and fines (starting at
₱200,000 and potentially reaching ₱1,000,000). The Anti-Bullying Act
addresses student bullying and may result in counseling and
intervention for students, while school personnel could face
imprisonment and fines.
