REVIEW: Twist Eatery in Forestville
  By Valery Larson
I first had the pleasure of enjoying the fresh and flavorful culinary delights
of Twist Eatery a few years ago. An elderly gentleman who was under my care at the time, loved to go out to eat. One day while driving down the road we noticed a whimsical sign, Twist Eatery, in the middle of Forestville, on the west side of highway 116. We parked and had to try it out.
What we first noticed about the cuisine were the savory flavors that took our meal over the top. It was fresh, inventive and balanced. It’s like the first time you eat something that is both sweet and salty, like chocolate with sea salt. Your eyes open wide. You savor that flavor on your tongue and say, Wow!
Executive Chef, Jeff Young and his wife Toni, takes pride in the great combinations they serve up in their delightful little restaurant, with the help
of their terrific staff assistant. Using fresh herbs, produce, bread (Nightingale Bakery) and meats, mostly locally sourced, they whip up such treats as their amazing signature veggie sandwich packed to the gills with grilled yams, eggplant, red peppers, zucchini, dressed with sundried tomato and served on Rosemary focaccia, and updated classics like their chicken pot pie and other delectable choices.
Jeff’s chef career began at the impressionable age of 13 when
his sister taught him the magic of popovers. His love of the cuisine arts eventually led him to study cooking in the classical French tradition.
Toni’s English mom taught Jeff the art of making a mouthwatering potpie as only the British know how. Take one home with you!
Toni and Jeff’s careful attention to detail in delicious food offerings and their warm welcome fit well in wine country where the variances and nuances of flavor are so appreciated and enjoyed.
 Let’s eat!
