When winter comes to an end, it can do so with a shock.
A course never quite looks the same way twice. The combinations of weather, season, light, feelings and thoughts that you find there are ever-changing ~ Joe Henderson
The weather is changing, the sun is shining and it is warm! Flowers are blooming, picnics in the park, music, laughter and celebration in the plaza! It is that time of year!

We went from needing heating to needing air conditioning in what felt like 24 hours. The regular spring rains have ended, apparently, and so it is back to watering to keep the green leaves and flowers happy around us.
May Day! Once again, the beginning of Spring brings us directly in contact with a beloved bit of Geyserville History—the annual May Day celebration. It’s a little later this year—the fun will be on Sunday, May 5th at the usual location of Hoffman Picnic Grounds just north of the iconic Red Barn on Geyserville Avenue.
While each year it attracts a few more out-of-towners who are welcome to observe and, preferably, join in the fun, this is definitely a Geyserville-centric celebration and one of the highlights of the year here.
It’s also the site of the annual Kiwanis Rib Cook-off so come hungry and vote for your favorite rib booth. Usually, several competing teams of First Responders participate, and you know those firemen can cook! The Ballet Folklorico will perform, a May Queen will be crowned, and children will dance around the classic Maypole which dates back to 1925. Admission is free. Beer and wine available.
Just Shred It! Community Shred Day May 18 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pm
No, we’re not talking surfing waves here (sorry, hold over from an earlier
life in Southern California!) This is a morning designed to help you safely
clear paper clutter that is too important to throw in the trash—but a little daunting to shred all by yourself a few pages at the time. Bring up to 4 boxes of shreddable materials per person to 100 Old Schoolhouse Lane where the North County Properties office is located.
This event is kindly sponsored by North County Properties and Wilson Artisan Wines, Geyserville Chamber members, and other Geyserville Community members.
It starts at 8:30 am on Saturday, May 18th and runs until 12:30pm. Shredding is performed by Shred-It, a professional shredding company. Since this is a typical Sonoma County Wine Country area event, of course there will be an hourly drawing for bottles of Wilson wine. Coffee and pastries are provided by Patelco Credit Union. Organized by Karen Waelde of North County Properties, Bridgett Petersen of Property ID and professional organizer Donna Roses. Thanks Ladies! Every overflowing file cabinet in a five-mile radius is grateful including my own!
Foodie Moments of the Month
It’s a joy living in Geyserville where great food is abundant. This month, I was pleased to try the “new” sauce at Catelli’s. It was hard to tear myself away from my two favorites which I rotate between on their light-as-air ravioli—
the butter garlic and the
meat sauce—but I boldly
tried the mushroom
cream sauce which was
absolutely fantastic. It
should be—with most
of my favorite things
in it including cream,
prosciutto, and garlic along
with the mushrooms!

Then, a few nights later at Diavola’s, I had what
I think is the best halibut of my life, served with scallop crudité and various veggies. Yum!
