Sonoma Ecology Center Events & NEED for Volunteers
#SonomaStrong
This is the time of year for giving thanks. And despite the di culties of recent weeks, we have much to be thankful for.
We’ve started the Emergency Watershed Protection Program, which brings local volunteers to high-priority sites to help us isolate the toxic ash and debris using sandbags and wattles until it can be hauled away. We need help identifying landowners with properties that should get immediate attention – places where structures burned on sloped land close to waterways. We’d like them to sign our consent form and give us permission to help shore things up until authorities can get to the site.
If you know of such landowners, or if you are one, please contact us at info@sonomaecologycenter.org. For more on the Emergency Watershed Protection Program, including a list of online forms, see our webpage at www. sonomaecologycenter.org/watershed-protection/ Speaking of re recovery, we are hosting a community forum later this month to nd out what we all can do to help. Features presentations and a Q&A period.
Nov 27 ~ Healing the Land - 7:30-9p; First Congregational Church of Sonoma’s Burlingame Hall, 252 W. Spain St., Sonoma. www.brownpapertickets.com/ event/3181065.

More than three-quarters of Sugarloaf (which we manage) burned and although the land will heal, trails, campsites and a few structures must be rebuilt. Location TBD; $35 per person; sonomaecologycenter.org/event/20131/
