◦ Product designer must understand the characteristic and
properties of material in product design
◦ Main purpose to perform material selection is design product with
good quality and low cost
◦ Failure on the part of the product, high cost and increase
manufacturing and process cost will occurred if fail to select the
best material to be used in certain design
