Dad,
It is a tremendous honor for you to be recognized as the City of Hope Spirit of Life® Honoree - we are so proud of you! This not only recognizes your successful career but it truly exemplifies what an incredible and selfless human you are.
Throughout our lives you showed dedication to your career and commitment to your associates. But to us, you were first and foremost our Dad.
You have always been there to guide us, both personally and professionally. You are the first person we call whenever we are looking for career advice on how to tackle a difficult work situation or even just to have another pair of eyes on a resume. You have spent countless hours preparing us for interviews, taking us on college tours and cheering us on through every sporting event.
There are so many examples of how you have made us each feel
special throughout our lives. Kate remembers that you always
called her his little pumpkin and on her 18th birthday you gave
her a glass pumpkin that she still carries with her and it serves
as a constant reminder of your love. Kelsey remembers a
birthday in England when you had to travel for work and you left a surprise balloon
with your face drawn on it for her to bring with her throughout the day. That small gesture was one of the many thoughtful ways that you showed that you were always there for us no matter what. Mike remembers how you would often come home with wooden airplanes that you picked up on your travels. Again, it was something so simple, but he always knew you were thinking of him. Despite your busy work schedule, you have always made sure that we knew that family came first. You have always made us feel so important and valued and that has helped shape the adults that we are today.
The same endearing qualities that make you an exceptional Dad have made you an amazing Papa to your grandchildren. They all adore your playful nature and light up whenever you walk in the room. Even the grand dogs think you are pretty special!
Congratulations on a remarkable career Dad! You continue to impress and inspire us every single day!
