The pandemic has upended every aspect of our lives. To combat the stress and uncertainty we face as we navigate the new normal, here are a few tips for how to prioritize self-care.
5 STEPS FOR DAILY SELF-CARE:
In less than an hour a day, we can make tremendous strides in improving our mental and physical health during the pandemic. Here are 5 activities to make part of your daily routine:
1. Give thanks: 5 minutes of gratitude journaling
2. Reach out: Text, email or facetime a friend or
family member
3. Move your body: 15 minutes of light exercise
4. Get outside: Spend 10 minutes (safely) outdoors
5. Limit screen time: No social media or news after 8 pm
A WORD ON FINANCIAL
WELLNESS:
During such uncertain times, it is easy to worry about our finances. However, it remains critical to keep a steady mind and avoid irrational decisions. Below are a few tips for maintaining financial wellness in 2021:
1. Understand how the pandemic has impacted your budget and spending
2. Create extra room in savings to account for future uncertainty
3. Review your financial goals
4. Meet with your investment advisor to see where you stand and review your options
3 SELF-CARE APPS FOR 2021:
Headspace offers users short, guided meditation sessions that have been proven to lower stress and reduce negative thoughts.
5 Minute Journal helps us create space in our day for positive reflection and gratitude by providing users with a space to write down our thoughts and feelings.
Talkspace provides users access to therapists via text, phone or facetime that can help us calm overwhelming thoughts and unwind after a stressful day.

The Museum of the American Revolution exhibition
When Women Lost the Vote: A Revolutionary Story, 1776 – 1807 explores the history of the nation’s first women voters and examines how political conflict led to their voting rights being stripped away.
The exhibit’s curator, Dr. Marcela Micucci, will bring
the experience to you virtually, highlighting the role property ownership played in the story. You’ll also
hear Haverford’s perspective on property ownership in the present day and how to organize the documents, partners, and information you should know as a potential or current head of household.

Haverford Book Club: The Psychology of Money

Morgan Housel, award-winning author and former finance columnist at The Motley Fool and The Wall Street Journal, will share his insights on the behaviors that help and harm our financial decisions.
His book, The Psychology of Money: Timeless Lessons on Wealth, Greed, and Happiness, is the featured publication for the Haverford Book Club being held later this year. The Speaker Series for Women community will have access to an exclusive pre-event Q&A session with the author before the program.
