VALUES AND CULTURE
If you ask people here about what it feels like to work at Wawa, you will hear things like family, friends, caring, speed, and urgency and collaboration, and that’s something we’re very proud of. It’s a type of roll-
up-your-sleeves, everyone-helps model that seems simple, but can never be copied. Our secret? We Fly in Friendly Formation. It’s our own playbook for soaring success. It recognizes every person’s role in our success — as individuals, as leaders and as a Company. Over 100 years ago, our original dairy farm was built on land located in a rural section of Pennsylvania called Wawa. It was named Wawa by the Lenni Lenape Native American tribe in honor of their favored game — the Canada goose. To this day, Wawa’s Corporate Headquarters is still located in Wawa, PA and the Canada goose is now a literal and metaphorical symbol for our Company. Like a flock of Canada Geese flying in “V” formation, we pride ourselves on teamwork and encouragement. We think it’s the only way to fly. In the stories that follow, you will get a first-hand glimpse of how our Associates incorporate lessons we learn from the geese into the principles that guide our everyday actions.
