COVID OUTREACH
Fighting Hunger and Supporting Healthcare Heroes
Standing by our communities is in our “Goose Blood,” and now more than ever, Wawa proved this to be true with its ongoing efforts of providing funds and support across its entire chain when our communities needed it most. On March 20, 2020, The Wawa Foundation established the Emergency Food Distribution Assistance Fund, which granted a total of $420,500 to 273 organizations working to relieve hunger.
In addition to providing financial support, Wawa donated thousands of bagged lunches across our entire operating area. Initiatives included:
• Nurses Week where stores handpicked hospitals and delivered a combined 50,000 hoagies to healthcare heroes as a thank you
• Our annual Hoagie Day celebration where 45,000 hoagies were donated to first responders and food banks across our chain
• Philadelphia’s Step Up to the Plate collaborative where Wawa donated 16,632 meals worth $140,000 to St. John’s Hospice and Face to Face shelters
We even put differences aside with convenience store competitor, Sheetz, as we teamed up to provide meals to local food banks in Pennsylvania and Virginia with one common goal of relieving hunger. Standing by one another in good times and bad will always be a tenant we live by.
