■ Anchor in service: Reach out to those whom you can help. Call a family member,
run errands for an elderly neighbor, give out meals to the homeless, or read stories
                                       to children on a videochat.
                                     ■ Anchor in video or audio resources: To calm your anxious mind, explore medita-
tions on YouTube, calming podcasts, or apps that promote mindfulness. To enjoy
the medicine of laughter, watch videos, listen to funny podcasts, or enjoy favorite
                                       sitcom episodes.
                                     ■ Anchor in sharing: Your story is important, as are all human stories. Share experi-
ences, thoughts, and feelings with fellow students, instructors, friends, or family
members using social media or other apps.
                                     ■ Anchor in the future: Stay strong in your sense of what you want to accomplish so
that this strong vision can allow you to clear obstacles you encounter.

You matter, and you are part of the solution. As you pursue your education, you have
an opportunity to f nd strength you didn’t know you had. Think of a person who

inspires you—the toughest person you know or have read about—and put an image of
this person nearby, on your computer or your bathroom mirror or elsewhere, to keep
                                   you motivated.
Finally, renew your resilience every day by taking stock of what you are grateful for.
With the courage to learn from and through diff culty and crisis, you can realize your

human potential and any ambitious goal that you will ever set for yourself. Nelson
Mandela has said that “Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it,” and
taught that “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the
world.” We look forward to supporting you as you change the world.
