Chiefs of Police Association
Greetings, everyone. This is Ken Zipovsky,
and I am excited to share the spring edition of
our training and technology update. There is a
great deal happening with the PAVTN, and I am
eager to bring you the latest news.
Our 2026 MIST courses are now available.
They include:
•
Legal Updates (Required)
•
Crisis Intervention (Required)
• Responding to Child Abuse
Investigations (Elective)
•
Trauma-Informed Policing (Elective)
I am also pleased to report that the PAVTN
search function has been completed. Officers
can now locate relevant training simply by
entering a keyword related to a specific topic.
For example, an officer looking for information
on domestic violence can select the “Course
Search” tab, type in the term, and immediately
view all PAVTN courses that address that
subject.

and fully active. Officers can quickly swipe
through essential information on their phones
for a brief refresher before responding to a
particular type of call. These courses are
located under the “Mobile Refresher Library”
tab and serve as a convenient review for
officers who have already received training on
the topic.
The micro-learning courses include:
• Responding to Victims of Sexual Assault
• Protection From Abuse Orders
• Responding to Domestic Violence Calls
• Strangulation Signs & Symptoms
• Strangulation- Take Action
• Domestic Violence- Indicators of
Self- Defense
