The Pennsylvania ACDA is delighted to celebrate and reflect upon the Chorale’s past performances at ACDA conferences at the Eastern Region and Pennsylvania State levels. Under the direction of Artistic Director, Founder, and Conductor Linda L. Tedford, the Susquehanna Chorale has consistently shared concert performances exhibiting sublime levels of choral artistry—characterized by richly colored vocal tone, expressive phrase-shaping, and impeccable diction.

The mission of the American Choral Directors Association is to inspire excellence and nurture lifelong involvement in choral music for everyone, through education, performance, composition and advocacy. Since 1988, the Susquehanna Chorale has supported the education of young choristers through the ensembles of its Educational Outreach Program, which now include Youth, Young Women’s, Children’s, and Preparatory Choirs. Additionally, the Chorale has furthered the choral art through its frequent commissioning of new choral works from numerous composers, including Bob Chilcott, Dan Forrest, Robert Page, and Stephen Paulus.

To Linda Tedford, the staff, and Board of Directors of the Susquehanna Chorale,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, and membership of Chorus America, congratulations to The Susquehanna Chorale on its impressive 40 years of beautiful music-making and organizational accomplishment.
Chorus America is very proud to claim the Chorale as a leading member for about 30 of those 40 years and we are very grateful for our partnership. The chorus’ leaders have consistently been active participants at our conferences and workshops, sharing best practices with their choral colleagues. In those earlier days, while the Chorale was busy growing and achieving many milestones, it was also helping Chorus America build its programs and services for volunteer choruses. In 1994, we were thrilled to present the Susquehanna Chorale with our most prestigious award, the Margaret Hillis Achievement Award for Choral Excellence. This holistic award recognizes a chorus that demonstrates artistic excellence, a strong organizational structure, and a commitment to effective outreach.
The Chorale is a wonderful reflection of its legendary founder and artistic director, Linda Tedford. Linda has been particularly generous in sharing her inspiration and expertise as a conductor, music educator, and community leader with countless others in the choral field. Linda and the Chorale are also known for building the next generation of choral singers and good citizens through its high-quality programs for children and youth.
Thank you, Linda and the entire Susquehanna Chorale organization for your dedication to excellence and community, your commitment to music education and the future of choral music, and for all you do to share the joy and power of choral singing with us all.
