The American Prize
The American Prize recognizes and rewards the best performers, ensembles, and composers in the United States. In 2020, the Susquehanna Chorale tied for second place in the “Community Chorus” Division of this prestigious competition. The Chorale also was a finalist for the same award in 2015.
“We are honored to be the recipient of the American Prize, recognizing the artistic work of the Susquehanna Chorale,” said Conductor Linda L. Tedford. “This award is a testament to the dedication and commitment of our singers and artistic staff to artistic excellence.”
Thousands of qualified contestants from all 50 states have entered the American Prize competition since its founding in 2009. Performance entries are accepted from both community and professional groups. Entries are judged on overall artistic quality, musicality, rhythmic incisiveness, ensemble, tone quality, accuracy, intonation, and knowledge of style.
The Chorale was awarded the “Community Chorus” prize based on pieces selected from its professional recordings Sing Me to Heaven (2016) and Roots & Wings (2018).
