TECHNOLOGY UPDATE
identify subjects in the field. At this moment there are
262 units deployed by PA’s police agencies. There is
no cost for the agency to acquire the unit. The annual
fee is currently $1,025.00 per unit. That fee covers
the system/device maintenance and the required
secure data connection. The 2025 fee will remain
the same. Additional details about the program and
the application process can be found on the PCPA
website under the Programs and Services Tab on the

Criminal Apprehension Technology (CAT)
Training
I am thrilled to announce that the Association
has successfully secured a $250,000 grant to
provide essential equipment and training to police
departments. Over the next two years, the PCPA will
distribute more than 30 complete digital camera crime
scene processing kits to departments in need. Each
kit, valued at over $5,000, will significantly enhance
their crime scene investigation capabilities.
Departments awarded these kits will also receive
complimentary training for two officers. This training
will cover the use of the camera kit and crime scene
photography techniques, conducted at one of our
regional training classes. We plan to hold at least six
regional training courses, and we are extending this
free training to departments that previously received
digital camera kits as part of the Latent Evidence
Improvement Project from 2002 to 2023.
