Dear Members,
The PCPA has organized its 111th Annual PCPA Education and Training
Conference this year, which will feature renowned speakers, training
professionals, and valuable leadership insights for our police leaders,
along with social and networking events. The Conference will be
highlighted by the Installation Banquet, and it will be an excellent opportunity to
learn, exchange ideas, establish communication networks, and renew friendships.
Our vendor exhibits will open on Sunday afternoon, July 21st, allowing our
members to view and try out the latest tools, technology, hardware, and software
for law enforcement professionals.
The Sunday VIP entertainer is comedian, John Mulrooney. John Mulrooney is an
experienced stand-up comic who has been performing on stage, television, and
radio for over thirty years. Originally from New York, John has become a well-
known name in Hollywood, having hosted several nationally syndicated television
shows. He has appeared on many popular shows, including Comedy Tonight,
the Late Show, Comic Strip Live, HBO, Showtime, A&E, and Comedy Central,
and has performed his stand-up on every major network. You can catch John
every day on 24/7 Comedy, as well as his new morning show, Mulrooney in the
Morning.
On Monday morning, July 22nd, the Association will conduct its annual business
meeting.
The training session of our conference starts on Monday, July 22nd. George
Piro, a renowned speaker, presenter, and leadership instructor, and retired FBI
Special Agent in Charge for Miami Field Office, specializing in security, safety,
and intelligence will deliver a presentation titled "Leadership in Crisis." This
presentation covers a 7-month period that George spent with Saddam Hussein.
He will discuss how to approach important interviews or business meetings and
achieve your objectives or goals. He will also talk about key leadership principles,
building relationships, overcoming challenges, and most importantly, what it
takes to be successful. This session is a must-attend. On Monday evening, we
have our Incoming President's Dinner for Chief Michael Vogel, and his theme is,
"Around the World." So, don't forget to wear your best national-themed attire.
We have a presentation from Harry Dolan on Tuesday, July 23rd titled, "Civil
Unrest in 2024: Preparing for the Year Ahead". With campus unrest, contentious
elections ahead, and a clear willingness on the part of many across the country
to demonstrate their political dissatisfaction in a manner that involves damage
to property and persons, it is important for law enforcement leaders to learn
from recent cases of civil unrest and proactively prepare their officers for the
challenges ahead. Chief Harry P. Dolan, who has personal experience dealing
with civil unrest as a Police Chief, will use case studies on the management
of disorderly crowds to present attendees with key takeaways for preparing to
confront civil unrest in a way that is both constitutional and minimizes threats to
officers and the public.
On Tuesday afternoon, July 23rd, we will be concluding our day with Christopher
Boyle from Law Enforcement Consulting, LLC. This year's discussion topic is, www.facebook.com/pachiefsofpolice
