PA CHIEFS OF POLICE ASSOCIATION
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE (CONTINUED)
"What We Don't Know Might be Hurting Us - The Year in Review". Every day, state and federal courts within the
Commonwealth produce valuable case law on various subjects, which are often missed by the average police Chief
or Patrol Officer. As a profession, we are missing out on these areas, which are causing us harm in both the civil
and criminal arenas. Chris will review the significant areas where criminal suppression and civil liability have loomed
large over the last year. He will also provide useful "Boyle's Bottomline(s)" to take back to the troops. As always, the
discussion will be rounded out by addressing any areas that the audience seeks to focus on, whether part of the
presentation or not. Chris is always a must-attend speaker.
On Wednesday, July 24th, the nationally renowned speaker Gordon Graham will present, "5 Concurrent Themes for
Success". As your job becomes more complex, it is important to have a systematic approach to ensure that things
are done right. The block, "The Five Concurrent Themes for Success", is essential for everyone in the workplace,
regardless of their position, job description, or type of organization. Mr. Graham will show you how the discipline
of Risk Management, coupled with an understanding of "systems", and complemented with Customer Service,
Accountability, and Integrity can work together to ensure that things are done right. This presentation is full of useful
information and with Gordon's insight and humor, it is a must-see.
Our organization provides various training opportunities to our members throughout the year. However, our annual
conference is a unique opportunity for all our members, colleagues, and friends to come together for professional
development, networking, and to foster a sense of community. We are eagerly looking forward to a productive,
informative, and enjoyable conference.
Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to Royce Engler, the Association President of the Wright Township
Police Department. Chief Engler has consistently represented the PCPA in a professional manner, bringing positive
recognition to our Association. He has displayed exceptional leadership skills in managing both professional and
personal responsibilities. On behalf of the PCPA and its members, I extend our sincere thanks to Chief Engler.
We are prepared to confront the upcoming challenges
and express our appreciation to our courageous law
enforcement community. We support you and look
forward to seeing you in Erie this July.
Sincerely,
Scott L. Bohn
