        Heart Medicine
Roses have a positive effect on the heart on the physical heart. In one study, participants saw a significant improvement in blood pressure and plasma cholesterol. Researchers also studied the physiological effect of rose oil by applying it on the skin. They saw a decrease in breathing rate, blood oxygen saturation and systolic blood pressure. They also saw calming and relaxing effects on the nervous system. Rose is also commonly used for mending a broken heart and supporting someone going through grief, sadness and depression. Rose and lavender have also been shown to alleviate symptoms of post-partum depression.
Wound Healing
All parts of the rose plant have been used for internal and external wounds. Topical application of rose has been used for boils, sunburns, sores, cuts, swellings and wounds. Rose is also reliably astringent, making it ideal to address tissues that have become too lax, such as cases of diarrhea or loose gums.
Inflammation and Pain
Rose’s astringency is helpful for inflammation and relieving pain. Rose has been shown to be helpful in cases of osteo-arthiritis, PMS and anxiety.
