GlEN NICHOlS
Good evening and welcome to you all
for this evening's game with Godalming
Town. I'd like to extend that greeting to
the player's and officials of our visitors and
also to the three match officials.
In what has been a very tough fifteen months it is with great pleasure
that I will be able to lead the team from the touchline this evening and
what better place to do it in a semi-final than on our own patch.
There has been an enormous amount of change during the pandemic at
our football club and it's a credit to so many people behind the scenes
that the club is both looking forward and progressing in so many ways.
Since I took over in December 2019 the experience has been pretty sur-
real. No completed seasons, a pandemic, some highs and some lows but
we have managed to get through it with a club and a team intact and
will be doing our upmost to finish this season on a high.
Since returning after the last lockdown there have been further changes
to the playing staff but in the last 5-6 weeks we have all come together
and that has been evident, especially during our performance last week
away at Westside, a team that had comprehensively beaten us earlier in
the season.
We have a young, talented squad many of whom are being exposed to
this level of football for the first time but they have acquitted them-
selves fantastically and for that they can be proud of their efforts.
It's likely to be a bit of an experience for some of them today with spec-
tators allowed back in and with not too much going on elsewhere, we'll
hopefully be able to enjoy it together.
All that is left to say is good luck to our opponents Godalming, thank
you to those coming to support the team today and I hope that we can
do you proud.
