t’s game number two of the week for us and
Iwe warmly welcome Farnham Town players,
staff and officials to Chalky Lane. It’s certainly a
fixture we are looking forward to as we look to
start a turnaround in our fortunes.
I was disappointed as I’m sure we all were with Tuesday night’s result
but we go again today and can’t let that distract us from the job in hand.
We certainly had the chances to get something from the 90 minutes on
Tuesday or at least narrow the margin of defeat but as I look back on
it and the word that comes to mind is efficiency. Stats don’t score you
goals or win you points but it’s all about turning those little bits of pos-
session and control into goals.
We need to be better at key moments in a game and quite simply put the
ball in the net when we’re on top. A huge positive from Tuesday night’s
outing was the involvement of no fewer than four of our 1st year U18’s
and one of those Cam Black getting on the score sheet.
The season’s only 12 games old for us and it’s a very open league with
two or three wins dramatically changing your league position. Every
week, after you look at the results at the end of a game, you see an odd
scoreline, with teams in form or expected to win suddenly crashing to
an unfancied side.
We have a couple of lads missing today but we are fortunate enough to
have a strong U18 group this season and we are delighted to have Louis
and Tyrell with us following impressive performances for the 18’s on
Thursday night.
We want to get back up that table and in the hunt for promotion which
is a big ask but there is a squad of players here that we all believe in.
If we stick together on and off the pitch as a squad and whether we’re
winning, drawing or losing maintain together, I’m sure we can make a
success of our campaign.
Finally, I would like to thank the powers that be at the club for giving me
the opportunity to try and bring success to the team and to name but
a few Andrew, Deeks, Lauren, Martin and Bec for their support so far.
Come on you Blues - Up the Chessy!!!
