GLEN NICHOLS
irstly, I’d like to extend a warm welcome to
Fthe Walton & Hersham players and manage-
ment along with tonight’s officials to Chalky
Lane.
It’s another huge game for us this evening as we search for some con-
sistency.
After a brilliant win here at ‘the Lane’ the previous Saturday against
Tooting Bec, we then failed to take anything away from our trip to Ash
United the other day; but in truth, they were good value for the three
points. It continues to be a case of small margins, and I still believe that
if we can get it right: sooner rather than later, then we can certainly
push for a top-half finish and beyond.
The attitude and application from the boys is and has been excellent,
numbers at training are good and now in Darren ‘Smudger’ Smith and
Mark Daniels we also have two ex-players; who I’ve played alongside,
and know what we are looking for and who want to help us progress so,
in turn, make up an excellent addition to the coaching set-up.
The club as a whole are on the up, the youth set-up is again thriving,
with teams from U7’s and above, and our U18’s have also had a great
first half of the season in the floodlit league. So the future is very bright
indeed.
In terms of the senior set-up, from the management to the commit-
tee, we are all working hard behind the scenes to get it right on and off
the field, and to be successful and progress. These things obviously take
time, but I’m very confident that we can get it right.
Finally, a belated thank you to Sarah and Honey who were omitted from
my honours list in my last programme notes.
Come on you Blues Up the Chessy!!!
