A G R A D U A T E ’ S P R A Y E R
BY MARYANN HOLLER
Long have we waited,
As many have watched,
Taking one step at a time,
Waiting for the day that we learn to fly.
We have lost and won,
We have been broken and had fun,
We have fought hard every day,
Knowing that the fruits of our efforts would one day be on display.
Donovan has become more than bricks and halls,
More than its desks and walls.
These rooms have been carved out by our memories,
These walls have been painted with our laughter,
And every day we have climbed the steps of our goals and expectations.
We have learned about the periodic table,
And of Macbeth’s betrayal,
But most importantly, we have learned that we are cherished, valued, and loved.
Although these times are hard,
Let us not forget that the Lord is our safeguard.
Even when you do not feel His presence,
Remember that His love is always present.
And though we soon must part,
Keep the memories you made here close to your heart.
Remember that no matter where you may go,
Here you will always have a home.
I hope all of your dreams come true,
And know that a Griffin will always be inside of you.
