   GROWTH
It’s no secret that New Zealand’s population is ageing.
By 2036 New Zealand will be home to more than 1.2 million people aged over 65-years, that’s a 77 per cent increase or an additional half a million over 65s from 2016.
The changes in the age structure of our population will continue and Enliven is preparing.
New developments, extensions to current care homes and villages
and significant renovations are well underway throughout the country.
In Wellington, two major developments are causing excitement. Forty-three new retirement apartments are being built at Longview Home in Tawa. While on the other side of the city earthworks have begun at Enliven’s Kilmarnock Heights site in Berhampore to make way for a brand new rest home and hospital, as well as 57 retirement apartments.
Those schemes will offer prospective
residents a choice of one, two and three bedroom apartments, and easy access to desirable amenities.
“It’s great to have these exciting projects underway and to be able to offer new options for retirement living in Wellington,” says Central’s Chief Executive Chris Graham.
“Enliven is committed to building vibrant elder-centred communities and these developments will help us continue to further our vision.”
