New Clothing Ranges Reflect Ballyclare’s Ongoing Committment to the Rail Industry
With a solid reputation as a rail industry supplier, Ballyclare is launching three new workwear ranges which are already receiving a warm welcome. The company’s ongoing research and development programme aims to constantly improve its products, and the new ranges are the result.
Leading the way is Ballyclare’s new GORE-TEX PYRAD® range of protective jackets, trousers and coveralls. Already approved by Network Rail, and set to be worn by lineside (trackside) workers later this year, they represent the next generation of FR/ARC PPE for foul weather hazard wear in rail & utility sectors.
The new garments are the product of intensive customer research, and Ballyclare’s long-standing partnership with WL Gore & Associates. They combine the weatherproofing and breathable performance benefits of GORE-TEX fabric, with proven and reliable protection against arc flash hazards.
Traditional arc flash garments can be heavy, cumbersome and uncomfortably warm. They can also absorb and retain moisture, all of which can prompt workers to increase the risks they face by not wearing them. In contrast, the new GORE-TEX PYRAD® garments
offer the type of lightweight, comfortable designs normally associated with consumer outerwear. They are lightweight, windproof and waterproof, and allow workers to remain comfortable and protected in all weathers. The arc-rated jackets (EN 61482-1-2 Class 2) are also up to 45% lighter than alternatives, in both dry and wet conditions. The garments are also tested for a full hour in heavy rain conditions, to ensure they satisfy the new rain tower test (EN 14360).
Ballyclare’s new ProTec hi vis, multi-norm collection has also been approved by Network Rail. Similar in styling to Ballyclare’s popular polycotton range, the ProTec garments benefit from designs that have been updated to meet the changing demands of today’s rail industry. They combine modern styling and outstanding levels of fire resistance, arc-, weld-, and anti-static protection.
Manufactured from a mix of fibres including polyester free compositions which meets numerous international standards, the range includes long-sleeve polo shirts, sweatshirts, cargo trousers and jackets. These garments feature the use of chevron-print material rather than traditional reflective tape, which gives them a more modern design and increases wearer comfort. The heat-sealed reflective tape also reduces the risk of harmful contaminants building up on and around the traditional sew-on tapes. ProTec garments are available in RISQ-TOM 3279 hi vis orange, AND EN20471 yellow and navy two tone versions.
Ballyclare’s new hi vis rail workwear ECO-Rail range has been designed in partnership with Network Rail and end- user customers. It reflects Ballyclare’s commitment to sustainability, as the garments are largely manufactured from recycled polyester materials recovered from plastic bottles. They also offer a high degree of recyclability at the end of their working life, ensuring that their environmental footprint is minimal.
Trousers, cargo pants, polo shits and T-shirts are included in the range, plus male and female slim-fit stretch trousers. The ECO-Rail range also features chevron-print material to provide maximum visibility while ensuring wearer comfort. The garments offer the quality and ruggedness which are Ballyclare hallmarks, and they reflect the company’s rail industry experience, commitment to innovation, and ongoing efforts to provide increased comfort and ever-greater protection.
