Dotto Trains
“The history of Dotto Trains spans more than fifty years and it is marked by zealous craftsmanship. Ideas, passion and tradition are just some of the ingredients that allow the company to look at the future with the awareness of having produced a high quality product.
Ivo Dotto, the company founder, started his business long ago, in the 50s as a hobby, but it was only in 1962 that Ivo built the first small rail train. The allure and success of this little train was proved by the increasing number of children who stopped and glued their noses to the factory’s fence to watch it in action. 1962 was to be remembered as the year in which the family set the basis for the creation of a solid, single-product company. However, the revolution, as it could have been seen at the time, dates back to 1966, when the first train on tires was created. From that moment onwards, the road train has become an alternative transport system, which can access city streets and alleys, impassable for traditional means of transport.
Then, many years later, in 1995, the major revolution took place: with the introduction of the Muson River, the first train with electric drive was created.
Attention to design and details have always been milestone’s in the company’s life. These are the values that make every train a unique and customisable product, together with a wide range of colour options. In addition, Dotto Trains offers a wide range of models suitable for different situations, from the Old Style to the latest futuristic models, always with their festive appearance.
Specific chassis designed for each model, different electric and diesel engines with different engine displacement, together with four-wheel drive locomotive models make the Dotto products range capable of satisfying the needs of every customer.
Every single project is in fact a combination of innovation, technical studies and customer needs. Moreover, the quality of Dotto products is tested and approved by the German firm TÜV Automotive, the Italian Ministry of Transportation, and other authorities.
In over 50 years of production, Dotto has built more than 2,500 trains and continues to supply its products to a wide range of customers worldwide.
Dotto trains fit in perfectly with town and tourist services. They cross through the narrow streets of
old historic town with ease, and add a special touch to tourist resorts, amusement parks, shopping centers, and holiday villages. This double function, tourism and entertainment, is the key to go international. As a matter of fact, the last significant milestone set by the company is the realisation in 2017 of a project for the Dubai Safari Park. It included models both from the classic and the modern line. The peculiarity of this partnership was the realisation in just one year of the Dottobus Enclosed models, specifically designed and built for this project.
Entrepreneurial visions, together with a passion for engines, which has always been a true vocation for the Dotto family, have made Dotto trains a shining example of Italian engineering and design all over the world.”
