Saint Patrick’s Day (March 17th)
Saint Patrick’s Day is an Irish holiday celebrated all around the world to honor the patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick. He was a key responsible person for converting the people of Ireland to Christianity around 400AD.
César Chávez Day (March 31st)
César Chávez Day celebrates the birthday of César Estrada Chávez and it serves as a tribute to his commitment to social justice and respect for human dignity. Chávez and his United Farm Workers Union battled California grape growers by holding nonviolent protests.

  Fun Facts- Ireland's patron saint was born in Wales, the United Kingdom.
- The first St. Patrick's Day parade took place in New York in the 1760s.
- In Chicago every year, the Plumbers Local 110 Union dyes the river "Kelly" green. The dye lasts for about five hours.
Activities- Eat corned beef and cabbage in America
- Wear green clothes
- Play scavenger hunt, a game in which the organizers prepare a list defining specific items, which the participants seek to gather or complete all items on the list, usually without purchasing them
   Fun Facts- In 1968 he fasted for 25 days in support of the UFW (United Farm Workers) commitment to non-violence.
- President Bill Clinton awarded the Medal of Freedom to Cesar Chavez in 1994.
- César Chávez Day is a public holiday only in 10 States: Arizona, California, Colorado, Michigan, Nebraska, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.
Activities- Discussions and debates occur on that day to bring the public’s attention to modern days’ key issues, issues which can include worker’s rights, medical coverage for workers, fair wages and benefits.
- Many schools have classroom activities that focus on César Chávez’s achievements, writings and speeches on or close to César Chávez Day.
- Community and business breakfasts or luncheons are also held to honor César Chávez’s achievements and incite hope within American communities.
