a lovely red puppy who was very well balanced
and bouncy. He had a lovely head, excellent
neck carriage, a high, tight tail set and natural
showmanship. Ditto the above for my Winner’s
Bitch, who was a lovely black puppy. I
had a difficult time deciding which Barbie being presented with her
to choose for Best of Breed. They judges gift at Chow Day 1985
were both SO similar. Both by Minnie Odenkirchen.
had great movement. Both
were showy. As I examined
them for the last time, the
owner commented that
they were littermates!!
Ultimately, I awarded
BOB to the male.
He had a little
more expression
and continued to
SHOW until the end.
Certainly spectacular
for a young puppy!
Now for a raffle of
unique items. I was then
presented with my judge’s
gifts, an autographed copy of
The Canadian Chow Source Book
and framed antique cigarette Chow
cards, of which I am an avid collector. We
then feasted on a HUGE potluck supper.
Since I was famished after two hours
of judging, and the dinner was SO
delicious, I went back for THIRDS!!!
The next morning, I made a
quick trip into town to see a large
collection of more cigarette Chow
cards and old postcards. I made my
purchases and then sadly departed to
the airport.
These few days will NEVER be
forgotten…and will ALWAYS be
cherished.
