Note from the Editor

As the New Year approaches, I look forward to another year of Chow Life
offering articles covering a variety of topics, but to do this I need your help. I
look for articles that are interesting and informative, to both newcomers and
those who have been in the breed for many years, and that cover diverse topics.
Sometimes this is easier said than done. If you have an article that you think
would be of interest to Chow Life readers please send me a copy of the article
or information on it and the contact information for obtaining permission to
reprint it at chowLife2018@gmail.com. I would like to Thank Kim Bowden
& Vickie Ireland who not only suggested articles for this issue, but obtained
permission to reprint them.

Starting with the Spring 2022 issue the advertising fees will be updated. Below
is table showing the changes in red as compared to the previous costs. There
are four changes that are being made which only apply to ads designed by Chow
Life, not those that are submitted camera-ready. As you can see the $100 for
“Spot Color” charge has just been redefined as a fee for “Extensive Editing”
which is up to $100 depending on the amount of the editing. Additionally, ads
currently include 2 photos at no additional cost, this has been increased to 3,
in keeping with the policies of similar publications, and the cost of additional
color photo(s) has been reduced from $150 each to $50 each. Finally, for many
years Chow Life charged a fee for a last minute “Flash” added to an ad which
was dropped a few years ago. However, recently there has been a significant
increase in last minute changes which has necessitated the reinstatement of this
charge. The full list of the advertising costs & fees can be found on page 86.

I hope as we near the end of 2021 that everyone is safe and healthy. The
dog show community, including Chow Life, continues to face the challenges
associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. I want to thank everyone who
