Health Committee Report: Lew Klein
Dr. Court, who is performing the CCCI funded AKC CHF grant at his laboratory in
Washington State University, attended the CCCI 2021 National Specialty in Niagara Falls
on October 6th and gave a one hour seminar about the anesthesia study. He described in
detail the effects of various anesthesia and sedatives on various individual liver enzymes and
enzyme groups. He also answered questions about the study and distributed/collected DNA
kits from attendees. There were approximately 25 attendees and 40 DNA kits were either
distributed or collected. While numerous DNA kits have now been mailed and/or handed-
out, the next phase is to collect the samples from everyone who received them.
A WebMD article about the Canine Herpes virus will be published on the following pages
of the Winter 2021 Chow Life, which was recommended by Vickie Ireland. It would be
beneficial to the Chow community if all readers would recommend articles about various
health issues theu come across. However, permission must be obtained from the author or
magazine the article was originally published in before it can be reprinted in Chow Life.
Thanks
