President’s
Message
by Cathy Clapp
I am honored to have been elected to serve as President of The Chow Chow Club,
Inc. I look forward to working with the Board of Directors and our members in my
new role and continuing the positive direction of the CCCI.
As you read this, our National Specialty at the Penn National Hotel in Camp Hill,
PA is fast approaching. JoAnne Lesko and her show committee are working hard to
prepare for our arrival for the week of April 10th. I am optimistic that everyone has
made plans to attend whether you have a dog to exhibit or not. I am hopeful that
more of you have been training to enter Rally or Obedience in addition to Confor-
mation. The all Breeder-Judge panel includes Dave Foose for the National Specialty,
Vicki DeGruy for the National Puppy & Veteran Sweepstakes, and Dave Cook
and Bob Banghart judging the Regional Specialties. I’m certain everyone is look-
ing forward to exhibiting to our knowledgeable judges. In addition, your support
is needed so if you have anything to donate to the auction, please contact Auction
Chair Layla Loveless prior to April 1st. Diane Myers and Lisa Leonzio should be
contacted regarding Hospitality contributions.
The last two years have been difficult for everybody and we have all suffered in
different ways. Everyone can benefit by being more kind and less critical of fellow
exhibitors, breeders, and their dogs. Look for the good traits in the dog that just
placed ahead of you rather than searching for faults. Everyone is disappointed when
they do not win but that is no reason to be demeaning and cruel. It is not going to
change the outcome nor make you any happier. Tomorrow will be another day. Do
your best to make it a better one.
I’m looking forward to seeing everyone next month. Until then, be happy, stay
healthy and remember, it doesn’t matter whether you win or lose, the best dog is
still going home with you.
