President’s
Message
by Dave Cook
Orlando here we come! If you haven’t finalized your plans to attend the 2019 National
Specialty from April 22nd through April 25th, it is time to do it. Entries close early
this year so make sure to get them in by April 3rd at Roy Jones Dog Shows (www.
royjonesdogshows.com). The show committee lead by Chawnecy Vaughn has worked
hard to make this another great specialty and you will not want to miss this one. Kudos also to Amy
Young and Cindy Stone on a successful fund raiser that will make the dinners and banquets very
affordable for everyone attending the Nationals.
Also mark your calendars now for the 2020 National Specialty, which will take place from April 26th
through April 30th in Grand Island, NY. While not official yet, plans are to support shows across the
border in Canada after the National Specialty, so you can also get a Canadian Championship on your
Chow as well.
After nearly three years of work, the revised CCCI By-Laws have been sent out to the membership
for approval. This was a long process to update our By-Laws to reflect what the club does today and
to bring into compliance with AKC regulations. If you have not sent back your ballot, please do so
ASAP. Thanks go out to the committee that worked on updating the By-Laws and your persistence
has paid off.
As always, it is an honor to serve as your President and please feel free to contact me should you have
any suggestions or concerns by email at huchu@aol.com or on my cell at (630) 878-2019. I look
forward to seeing everyone in Orlando in April.
A Note from the Editor
If you have been fortunate enough to win either Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex,
Winners Dog or Winners Bitch at a Regional Specialty, you probably received a
certificate for a discount on an ad in Chow Life. Recently the Board approved a
change to the policy for using these certificates. While they have an expiration
date, it has been doubled from 6 months to 1 year from the date of the Specialty
win. Also, you can use 2 certificates with a full page color ad and 1 with a full
page black & white ad.
A Chow Life ad is a great way to showcase your dog’s win. The design of your ad is
included in the cost. Just email me a high resolution copy of your photo, the wording for the
ad, any thoughts you have on the theme, and a copy of certificate front & back and I’ll do the
rest. You can find the ad the rates in the back of every issue. If you have any questions, please feel
free to contact me at chowlife2018@gmail.com.
I look forward to working with you in 2019. Carol Ann Klein, Editor
