Things in California are still on lockdown as far
as having a club meeting, or gathering in groups.
Everyone is being careful to wear a mask, and meet
in an outdoor setting as we did in October 2020 at
our last attempt at a club get- together here in the
local park. We were just under the wire before a
complete lockdown of any kind of group meeting or
activity went into effect here in Northern California.
Wyetts, brought a ramp for practice, and why not
put the dogs through their paces with ring practice
and placements at the end of class for winners
and best of opposite. Sue Brough had fun working
through this activity. We were carful not to have any
food open. Everything was contained in a covering,
including the special tamales Derrick cooked up in
banana leaves before we left the house.
Obviously, we are still unable to put together plans
for a Fall Show, or joint Specialty show with our
fellow Chow friends in Southern California.
We are encouraged with Derrick’s promising litter
of 5 new boys and their new owners wanting to
show those puppies, and Dee Dee has a new cream
boy to show. We are excited as we look forward to
future shows with new puppies and potential new
members.
We have creative and determined folks in our group
who have found ways to work and train with their
dogs. Louise Wilson has put many titles on her
Chows. She has just done another first by putting
a virtual Rally title on her little Corgi girl, who
recently joined the household. Louise is willing
to share how to do this and be available to coach
anyone else who wants to give this a try.

Currently, any or all 5 sets of rally course signs can
be ordered from AKC. You then can lay down a
course in your driveway or the ground with these
strip sets and practice until you feel your dog can go
on to the next course. Continue to practice until you
and your dog are ready to be filmed completing a
course.
Louise’s friend and Trainer in her companion event
Dog club videoed as Louise took her dog through 4
different courses over 4 partial days. Louise reports
that the largest complication was people stopping to
ask questions and distracting her girl.
The videos are transferred from the iPhone to the
iMac. Once the video is transferred, drag it to your
computer “desk top” then set up a channel on your
You Tube. After that, you just follow the directions
on the AKC website. If you run into problems, send
Louise an email and she is willing to help you out.

This is encouraging information for those who want
to continue enjoying and putting titles on their dogs.
Chows especially like a job to do with their humans.
Next club news, we have another amazing report
from a therapy dog in our club, who also is Rally
titled. Her owner is sending me a short report on
some of her amazing experiences.

until we can be back in the ring together again!
