I attended the 2019 AKC Canine Health Foundation (CHF) National Parent Club
Canine Health Conference in St. Louis, MO from Friday, August 9th through
Sunday, August 12th. The conference was jam packed with presentations, display
booths and after hours activities. Many of the presentations were updates on various
CHF genetic study grants and their new findings which were all fairly technical. I
will have a detail article on the CHF Conference in the Spring 2020 issue of Chow
Life.

Also, the CCCI CHF Grant on anesthesia is pending a detailed plan by Dr. Court’s
lab and a subsequent peer review by a CHF panel, including a small team of
administrators and scientists. As soon as the peer review is competed, we will be
contacted by the CHF to start collecting DNA samples. We are planning on having
a table at the 2020 National to collect DNA sample for the study.

I regret that I have to inform the membership we are losing another one of our
Regional Clubs. Middle Tennessee Chow Chow Club is in the process of dissolving,
this will leave us with 13 Regional Clubs.
In order for our Regional Clubs to continue they need the support of our
membership. Join a club near you, help at their events, sponsor trophies or support
the entry. We are still looking for suggestions to help our struggling Regional Clubs
so please feel free to email me if you have any thoughts.

I will be asking for the Regional Clubs again to submit a Primary and Alternate
Conformation and Sweepstakes Judges names no later than February 1, 2020. This
will be used to select our 2022 National Specialty and Regional Club judges.
Just a reminder to all clubs, send your requests for CCCI Medallions and Chow Life
certificates to me at CCCIliaison@yahoo.com. Remember you must list them in your
specialty show premium in order to receive the medallions and certificates.

Don’t forget to promote your Regional Specialty shows by having them listed on
the Chow Life show calendar, email blast and FB post. You can email Carol Ann
@ chowlife2018@gmail.com to have items added to the calendar and Love @
lkendr4300@aol.com to send out emails and FB posts.
