3. Leave Provisions
3.1. Annual Leave
You are entitled to 15 (fifteen) working days paid leave per annum after each completed year of service.
All applications for leave must be submitted in writing to HR for approval at least 2 (two) weeks before you
wish to go on annual leave. All leave is subject to management discretion.
Annual leave may not be accumulated and must be taken in the due leave cycle due, or be forfeited. This
rule may only be relaxed in the Company’s discretion in strictly limited and defined circumstances.
3.2. Sick Leave
You are entitled to 6 (six) weeks paid sick leave in each 3 (three) year cycle, but only 6 days in the first 6
months of employment, as prescribed by the basic conditions of employment act. Payment is subject to
the production of a certificate from a registered doctor for each individual case of sick leave absence,
otherwise annual|unpaid leave applies.
You are required to notify your manager over the telephone if you are going to be absent through illness
by 08h00 on the first day that you are absent and produce a sick note upon your return to work.
3.3. Other leave & Family Responsibility Leave
Provided that you have been in employment for longer than 4 (four) months and work more than 4 (four)
days per week, you will be entitled to 3 (three) days paid leave per annum in respect of the birth or
sickness of your child, or a death in your immediate family.
3.4. Maternity Leave
Provided that you have been in employment for longer than 4 (four) months and work more than 4 (four)
days per week, you will be entitled to 4 (four) month s unpaid maternity leave. The leave pay can be
claimed for through the Unemployment Insurance Fund and all paperwork will be completed by The
Company HR upon request.
The Company has no specific policy on sporting, study or leave for court attendance, and management
will consider each request on its merits.
