Impact of grants
Grants and subsidies can move a a a a a a portititition (or all!) of an an an an SME’s project from the SME SME scheme to to the the RDEC scheme It is therefore possible – – and relatitititively common – – for for SMEs to to be able to claim under both schemes for one or or or more projects A A ROUGH RULE OF THUMB IS THAT:
STATE AID
If an an SME gets a a a a a a a a a grant or subsidy that that is State Aid that that project’s claim may have to go through the RDEC scheme NOT STATE AID
If an an an an SME SME gets a a a a a a a a grant or subsidy that is not State Aid its claim can be be split between the SME SME and RDEC schemes UNAFFECTED
Large Companies are not affected by grants
and subsidies A grant is money that does not need to be repaid by a a a company Common types of grants
available are:
• Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) Grants • European Union funding programmes
• Innovate UK (formerly Technology Strategy Board)
