Mapping & Monitoring Your Gender Jaws
As with so many things in business, the first step to gender balancing is data - know your starting point.
The chart on the right is a simple map of a team's gender balance (or lack thereof) by seniority. It's a snap shot in time of the gender balance at each level. We call these the 'gender jaws', due to the fact that most companies' and teams' charts start out looking like this one, like a set of crocodile jaws.
Download the Excel calculator from the programme to map your team's gender jaws and find any inflection points that need more focus. You can then monitor your jaws over time to see your progress as you gender balance.
