The Pine-Richland Middle School library program provides students
with a curriculum that focuses on the integration of information
literacy with technology skills and teaches students to become
effective users of ideas and information.
Middle school students visit the library with their subject area
teachers on a flexible schedule to conduct research and select
books. Students also have daily opportunities to visit the library for
free selection of reading material.
The Information Literacy curriculum uses the American Association
of School Librarians Standards Framework for Learners. Using
these guidelines, the learners think, create, share and grow in each
of the shared foundations: inquire, include, collaborate, curate,
explore, and engage.
Additionally, Modern Language Association citations for a variety of
resources are employed for research. Teaching of the information
literacy and technology objectives is the joint responsibility of the
librarian and the subject area teacher, who collaborate to develop and
deliver lessons.
The library is staffed by a full-time teaching librarian and is fully
automated for circulation. In addition, the library has computer stations
with high-speed internet access. To learn more information about the
library and access our online resources, such as databases, eBooks,
audiobooks, our online catalog and more, please visit the library
website at www.pinerichland.org/MSLibrary.
