LCD projector, audio speakers, and laptops are the most commonly used equipment when conducting extension activities. This equipment
are very useful, especially when conducting training and seminars. The university extensionists use projectors for easy management of presentations. The
projector allows the presentation of text, audio, graphics, or video. The projector is more entertaining for the participants and improves the likelihood
they will comprehend the topic being discussed. Speakers were used every time an activity is conducted. These aids presentation to be more
comprehensible when faced with a large number of audiences. As one of the most common output device, speakers is use to produce audio output that can
be heard loudly and clearly by the audience. And portable laptops are being used to aid in the presentation of technologies that will be imparted to
the target beneficiaries.
➢ Present institutional policies on reloading/equivalent teaching load for Extension.
To rationalize the functions of the faculty members concerning their extension functions, a workload scheme serves as a guide in
assigning extension loads.
a. A faculty member assigned to extension shall be given equivalent units as governed by the university workload policy guidelines.
a. A pool of qualified staff shall be tapped to provide technical services to programs and projects sponsored or funded by national and international
agencies based on policy guidelines for special projects.
b. FTE from extension activities/projects of the faculty for which they receive honorarium shall not be included in their overload claim.
c. Faculty members and staff by virtue of their designation who report on a sixth working day and have already rendered 40 hours of service per
week shall be entitled to overtime pay or in case of fund unavailability, shall be converted either into vacation services credit or compensatory
time off as defined in the CSC Rules.
d. It shall be the responsibility of the Department Chairperson and the Deans that the faculty who are under load must have additional workload
in either extension or research.
e. The performance target and performance rating of faculty without administrative designation must at least have a minimum of 15 % devoted
to the extension.
f. Any extension programs shall be implemented based on the principles of integrated development approach, resource sharing,
participatory multidisciplinary, and college-based. It shall develop the skills and capabilities of extensionists needed in becoming effective
and efficient community workers.
➢ Incentives and Awards
a. No faculty shall be promoted if he /she is not involved in research and extension activities
b. Faculty members could claim faculty teaching equivalent in extension as provided in the university workload policy guidelines.
c. The overall performance rating of a faculty should include his/her extension function/activities
d. To sustain and encourage the conduct of quality extension projects to support accreditation of curricular programs, the University shall
institutionalize an Annual Award for outstanding extension projects or faculty either conducted individually or by a group of faculty
which are college-based or University extension project and duly approved by the University shall be provided with incentives in the
form of plaques of recognition and cash award. Conferment of awards shall be done during the ISU Foundation Day.
e. A faculty or staff who generated resources out of the establishment of strong linkages with local, national, and foreign funding
institutions shall be given due recognition or appreciation.
f. A faculty-staff on a part-time basis to special projects without incentives should be given corresponding credit units in
accordance with the existing University faculty workload policies as provided in the Administrative Manual.
g. Faculty members who are appointed Assistant Professors and up are expected to carry a regular or a minimum extension
workload (Administrative Manual, 2005) as follows:
h. A detailed accomplishment/progress report in the prescribed format shall be required to support claims for extension;
i. For team extension project, a proportionate credit unit depending on the degree of involvement shall be given to each member;
