same thing was in the first century. Instead of
horses, we've got motors with horsepower
today.
The gladiators were inhumane. They were
brutal in the arena. I could spend one hour or
more just on the gladiator games. A multitude
of men and animals died every year in these
games. They were condemned criminals that
died in these games, servants, slaves that died in
these games, captives of war that were made to
fight one another and fight animals, and then the
persecuted Christians. Christians were sometimes
martyred in these games in these stadiums. In
the arena, murder was the practiced art at that
time, man and beast sacrificed to the blood-
thirsty crowd in these arenas. They even
imported exotic animals to slaughter. They took
lions and panthers and ostriches and bears and
