Emma started riding at the young age of 4 with
pony lessons. After a few years, she began compet-
ing at local shows and quickly developed a passion
for the sport. Her memorable wins include year-
end top-scoring 3’6 Canadian Hunter Derby rider at
13 years old and competing in the 1.35m-1.40m
jumpers. Emma is grateful for her opportunities
to groom and ride many quality horses on the flat
while working for various riders over the past 6
years. Emma has aspirations to compete in the U25
division at Wellington International and compete in the International Ring at Spruce Meadows.
CHECK MY RIDE was started as a 3-year-old by Bill Calder and Sergey Zayika. He is the first homebred under 5 years that Emma has worked with. CHECK MY RIDE went to a few horse shows last summer as a 4-year-old and is now consistently placing in the 5-year-old jumper series. Emma is hoping John and Beezie Madden can provide some exercises to channel CHECK MY RIDE’s energy in the right place. CHECK MY RIDE’s Dam, GINGER ALE (shown as STREISAND), was Emma’s junior hunter, hunter derby, and equitation horse. STREISAND competed in 2* showjump- ing prior to being Emma’s mount. Her sire, GRALSHÜTER, competed in the 1.60m jumpers. CHECK MY RIDE’s sire, CHECKMATE, owned by Dreamscape Farms, Langley BC, had wins in the hunter ring and high scores at his 70-day stallion test with 9.5 for Character and Willingness, and 9.0 for Temperament and Free Jumping.
