CSHA 2018 Bay Stallion
Gavin started riding at a summer camp where
he helped look after the horses and later, led trail
rides, and taught summer camp lessons. He want-
ed to learn as much as he could to best look after
and work with horses. Gavin graduated from the
Olds College Equine Science Program, and worked
in show barns in Ontario, Alberta, and Germany.
He is proud of the places he has worked, and the
experiences and lessons that they gave him. There
is always a great sense of accomplishment when a
horse you have had a hand in training, grooming, and caring for, accomplishes a goal with proficiency, makes an owner proud, or gets recognition for being exemplary. Gavin’s desire is to continue learning and experiencing how to be a better horseman, caring for every aspect of the horse, its overall well-being, and how to better communicate with and educate them.
TMAC EVERCLEAR came with about 30 days under saddle with Roland Sawatzky when Gavin started riding him in April this year. Most rides thus far have been flatwork, though TMAC EVERCLEAR has been introduced to a few pole and fence work exercises. His Sire, HERALD III, was very successful under several riders, winning in Nations Cups, and International Grands Prix. He performed at the highest levels for over 8 years. TMAC EVERCLEAR’s Dam, TMAC NATLA, stems from PIK AS xx, well regarded as a Thoroughbred show jumping sire. For the symposium Gavin would like to understand how to better manage and accommodate a young growing horse, in terms of workload, challenges, balance, education, and degree of expectations.
