Tuvalet eğitimi, gelişimin kilometre taşlarından biri- dir. Öyle ki etkileri yıllarca sürer. Eskiden bağ-bahçe içinde yaşayan insanlar için tuvalet eğitimi zor değildi. Çocuk bu dönemde özellikle yaz aylarında bahçeye bı- rakılır tuvaletini istediği zaman istediği yere yapardı. Doğal olarak yumuşak bir geçiş yapılmış olurdu. Kent- leşmeyle beraber tuvalet eğitimi de zorunlu hale geldi. Bu zorunluluk bazen hatalı yaklaşımlara, hatalı yakla- şımlar da sıkıntılara neden oluyor. Yanlış yönetilen bir tuvalet eğitiminin sonunda, uzun süren inatlaşmalar ve güç savaşı sizi bekliyor. Psikanalizin kurucusu Sigmund Freud’un tuvalet eğitimi için, “Karakter eğitiminin ilk basamağıdır” demesi bu yüzdendir.
TOILET TRAINING OF CHILDREN
Toilet training is one of the milestones of development. So much that its effects last for years. For people who lived in gardens and orchards, toilet training was not challenging. During this period, particularly in the sum- mer months, the child was left to the garden and used the toilet whenever s/he wanted. Naturally, the transi- tion was completed smoothly. After the urbanization, toilet training has become imperative. This necessity sometimes leads to the wrong approaches. Because of mismanaged toilet training, you may face the stubborn- ness and power struggle. That is why Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis, says, “the toilet training is the first step of character education”.
