Budistler tarafından maymunlar kutsal sayılıyor. Bu nedenle tapınakta yaşıyan, gün gittikçe çoğalan maymunlara da kimse dokunmuyor. Kutsal saydıkları maymunların da sayıca fazla ola- rak yaşadığı yer burası. Aman dikkat! Elinizde yemek, muz, su şişesi, kafada gözlükle falan gitmeyin. Maymunlarla içli dışlı ola- bilirsiniz. Önleminizi alın derim gitmeden. Buraya gitmenin iki yolu var. Biri 365 adet basamağı aşarak tepeye ulaşabiliyorsu- nuz. Diğeri ise, araçla tepeye tırmanarak hemen tapınağa ula- şabiliyorsunuz. Ama hangi yolu kullanırsanız kullanın maymunlar sizi iki tarafta da karşılıyor. Siz eğer birsey yapmazsanız onlar da birşey yapmıyorlar.
Tapınak, Kathmandu’nun yüksek tepelerinden birine kurul- muş. Tapınak bahane manzara şahane aslında. Tüm Katmandu bu tapınağın kurulduğu yerden mükemmel görünüyor.
Tapınak, yapısının üstüne baktığımızda altın kaplama üzeri- ne yapılan Buda’nın gözleriyle burnu görünüyor. O burun, Bu- dizm’de bütünlüğü temsil ediyor.
Tapınağın arka kısımlarına gidildiği zaman da yöresel el sanat- larının yapıldığı minik hediyelik eşyaların satıldığı dükkânlar yer alıyor. Buralardan alışveriş yapılabilir.
According to the Buddhists, the monkeys are sacred. Hence, no- body touches the monkeys living in the temple even if the number of monkeys increases every day. There is a place where the mon- keys constitute the majority. I would say, “watch out” to the visi- tors. Do not go there with food, banana, and water bottle in your hand or glasses on your head. The monkeys may touch you. I rec- ommend you to take precaution before going there. The site has two access points. You can arrive at the hill by climbing 365 steps. Alternatively, you may reach the temple by car. Whichever the way you choose, the monkeys welcome you. If you do not do some- thing, they do not touch you either.
The temple was built on the high hills of Kathmandu. The view from the temple is marvelous. From the place, where the temple is built, Kathmandu looks perfect.
When we look at the top of the temple, we see two Buddha eyes and nose, made on the gold plating. This nose represents the unity in Buddhism.
When you advance through the back of the temple, you observe the shops selling small souvenirs from local crafts. You may shop here.
