Bugun Finlandiya nüfusunun büyük bir kısmı protestan fakat, Ruslar’ın bir dönem ülkeye sahip olmaları nedeniyle ülkede orthodox kiliseleri de bulunuyor. İşte bu kiliseler- den biri de şehrin merkezinde yer alan Uspneski Katedrali. Uspenki Katedrali’nin en ilginç özelliği bugün hala İstan- bul’daki Ortodoks Patrikanesi’ne bağlı olması.
Porvonyoki Kasabası
Helsinki’ye kadar gelmişken çevresindeki kasabaları da keşfedilmeli diyoruz ve kalemle çizilmiş gibi duran Porvon- yoki Kasabası’na gidiyoruz. Kışın vermiş olduğu mükem- mel manzara bu kasabada da çıkıyor karşımıza. Donmuş bir nehir, rengarenk kutu evler ve masalsı bir dünya. Por- vonyoki, bir ortaçağ kasabası. Ve tüm duruşuyla bunu bize sonuna kadar hissettiriyor. Sokaklarda kızaklarla çekilen çocuklar, karlarda yuvarlananlar, şehrin tarihi katedralini gezenler.. Masal kitaplarında yer almak isteyenlerin gör- mesi gereken bir kasaba burası.
Kuzey Kutbu’na Merhaba
Helsinki’de gezerken bize bu kadar kar yetmiyor. Biraz daha kara doyalım istiyoruz ve rotamıza Kuzey Kutbu’nu alıyoruz. Helsinki’den Rovanemi’ye doğru güzel bir mace- raya başlıyoruz. Rovaniemi, Lapland veya bir diğer değişle Laponya Bölgesi’nin başkenti. Bölgenin nüfusu yaklaşık 200 bin kişi ama bu nüfus turistlerden dolayı çok daha fazla. Özellikle Asyalı turistlerin sayısı inanılmaz. Laponya’nın en populer şehri Rovaniemi. Rovaniemi’nin nüfusu yaklaşık 65 bin kişi. Kışın bembeyaz karların altında, yazın ılık bir havada yaşayan Laponyalıları açıkçası bizde merak ediyoruz, nasıl yaşıyorla diye. O zaman buyrun beraber tanıyalım kendile- rini, yaşam yerlerini.
Uspenski Cathedral
A large portion of the Finnish population nowadays is Protestant, but there are some Orthodox churches in the city since Russians dominated the city for a while. One of the cathedrals is the Uspenski Cathedral, located at the city center. The most interesting characteristic of Uspenski cathedral is that it is still connected to the Or- thodox patriarchate in Istanbul today.
Porvoo Town
We would like to explore the surroundings of Helsin- ki as well. And we visit Porvoo town, which looks like a drawing. The perfect view of the winter is also visible in this town. A frozen river, colorful small houses and it is like a fairy tale. Porvoo town dates back to Middle Age. And we can entirely feel it when we visit there. The boys skating on ices, the ones playing on snow, the people vis- iting the historical cathedral...It is really a must-see place for those who would like to live a fairy tale.
Hello to the North Pole
Of course, there is not enough snow in Helsinki. We would like to see more snow and we are heading to the North Pole. We are starting a beautiful adventure from Helsinki to Rovaniemi. Rovaniemi is the capital of Lapland region. The population of the region is about two hun- dred thousand people. But of course, this population is getting a lot more with the tourists. Particularly, the num- ber of Asian tourists is really high. Rovaniemi is the most popular city of Lapland. The population of Rovaniemi is about 65 thousand people. We are really curious about Lapland, covered with snow in winter while experiencing warm weather in summer. Let us nd out together how
