Sanatın içerisinden gelen bir geçmiş... Peki, şapkalar, saç aksesuarları, gelin taçları... Bu işe nasıl başladınız?
Şapkalara olan ilgim oyunlarda başladı. Değişik dö- nemlerde kullanılan şapkalar, saç aksesuarları, bunların her birini oyunlarda kullandığımızda çok hoşuma gidi- yordu. Nasıl farklı alternati er yapabilirim diye kendi kendime araştırmaya başladım. Sonra bir de araya evlilik girdi. Biliyorsunuz, evlenme arifesinde kadınlar “Gelin- liğim nasıl olacak, çiçeğim nasıl olacak?” diye titizlenir. Bu esnada saç aksesuarı modellerine bakarken, daha da bir merak uyandı bende. “Nasıl farklı yapabilirim, ken- dimden nasıl bir parça katabilirim?” derken, kendi gelin çiçeğimi yaptım. Bu süreçte aksesuarları araştırırken, bu işi yapabileceğimi düşündüm ve küçük küçük başladım.
Meyal Design nasıl oluştu?
Bir sosyal medya platformunda araştırma yaparken bu atölyeyi gördüm. Buranın başındaki arkadaşım Tuğ- ba da saç aksesuarları yapıyordu. Malzemeye ihtiyacım vardı ve onunla iletişime geçtim. O da beni atölyeye da- vet edip, malzemelerini paylaştı. Bu şekilde tanıştık ve gelir gider oldum bu atölyeye... Bu süreçte Tuğba ile de arkadaş olduk. O, aslında avukat ve buraya sadece haf- ta sonları gelebiliyor. En son konuştuğumuzda bu yüz- den atölyeyi kapatabileceğini söyleyince, bende bir fikir uyandı. “Neden birlikte bir şeyler yapmıyoruz? Sen hafta sonları gelirsin; ben hafta içleri gelirim ve birlikte bir şey- ler üretebiliriz dedim.” dedim. Fikir onun da hoşuna gitti ve Meyal Design ile Meyal Atölye aynı çatının altında bir- leşti. Burayı çok seviyorum; buranın da Yeldeğirmeni’nin de çok güzel bir enerjisi var.

A past stemming from art... Well, hats, hair accesso- ries, bridal crowns ... How did you start this business?
My interest in hats started in plays. Hats, hair accesso- ries used in di erent periods were taking my fancy when we used them in the plays. I started to investigate myself to learn how I could make di erent alternatives. Then there comes my marriage. You know, women are fussy about “How will my wedding dress look like, how will my bouquet be?” on the eve of marriage. When I was looking at the hair accessory models, I was even more curious. As I was asking myself “How can I make it di erent, how can I add a piece from myself?”, I made my own bridal bouquet. While researching the accessories in this process, I thought that I could do this work and started this business with baby steps.
How did Meyal Design come into existence?
When I was doing research on a social media platform, I stumbled on this workshop. My friend Tugba who is at the head of this workshop was also producing hair accessory. I needed materials and I got in contact with her. She invited me to the workshop and shared her materials. We met in this way and I came and went to this workshop... I became friend with Tuğba in this process. She is actually a lawyer and she can come here only on weekends. When she said in our last conversation that she might close the workshop for that reason, an idea struck me. I said, “Why don’t we do something together? You can come on weekends and I can come on weekdays and we can produce something to- gether.” She also liked the idea, and Meyal Design and Mey- al Workshop merged under the same roof. I fancy here; this workshop and Yeldeğirmeni have a very nice energy.
