Güney Afrika Nerede?
Güney Afrika, Afrika’nın en güney ucunda yer alıyor. Güney- batısında Atlas Okyanusu, güneydoğusunda Hint Okyanusu, kuzeyde Namibya, Botsvana ve Zimbabve, kuzeydoğusunda Mozambik ve Swaziland ile sınır komşusu. Afrika Kıtası’nın gü- ney kesiminin hemen hemen yarısını kaplayan Güney Afrika Cumhuriyeti’nin nüfusu ise 54 milyon civarında.
Güney Afrika’da farklı fonksiyonları olan üç ayrı başkent var. Yürütme başkenti Pretoria, yasama başkenti Cape Town, yargı başkenti ise Bloemfontein. Ve ben de size şimdi Cape Town’u anlatacağım.
Cape Town Yerlileri
Cape Town çok renkli bir şehir. Avrupalılar, Asyalılar ve Afrika- lılar birarada yaşam sürüyor. Aslında tarihte burada Afrikalı yerel kabileler yaşam sürerken, Avrupalılar’ın buraya gelmesi ile kül- türler harman olmuş. Asırlar önce buraya gelen Avrupalılar artık kendilerini Güney Afrikalı sayıyor ve onlara, Afrikans deniliyor. Afrikalılar, melezler ve Afrikanslar’ın toprakları oluyor burası. Bir çok kabile dili konuşulurken aynı zamanda Hollandaca ve İngiliz- ce de kullanılan diller arasında. Para birimi Güney Afrika Randı.
Dünyaca Meşhur Ümit Burnu
Güney Afrika Cumhuriyeti’nin yaşam başkenti Cape Town, tarih boyunca hep Avrupalılar’ın ilgi odağı olmuş bir şehir. Tarihi her ne kadar binlerce yıl öncesine gitse de bu şehrin keşfediliş tarihi 1488. Portekizli denizci Bartalemu Dias, o zamanki kralın isteği üzerine yeni ticaret ve deniz yolları keşfetmek için yol- lara düşüyor. Ticaret ve baharat yolları elinde bulunan Osman- lı’ya vergi vermek istemeyen Avrupalılar bu sebeple yeni deniz yolları ararken, 1488 yılında Portekizli kaşif ve denizci Dias ta- rafından Cape Town keşfediliyor. Cape Town’da Ümit Burnu’na ulaşan denizci yoğun fırtınalar, dalgalar sebebi ile daha fazla iler- leyemiyor. Ve gördüğü kötü hava koşulları sebebi ile de bugün Ümit Burnu olarak anılan bölgeye ‘Fırtınalar Burnu’ adını veriyor. Fakat daha sonra bu ismin ürkütücü bir isim olduğunu, hiç bir
Where is the South Africa?
South Africa is the southernmost part of Africa. On the southwest, there is Atlantic Ocean, and on the southeast, there is Indian Ocean. Its border neighbors are Namibia, Bot- swana and Zimbabwe in North and Mozambique and Swaziland in northeast. South African Republic, covering almost the half of the Southern part of Africa, has the population of 54 million approximately.
South Africa has three capitals with di erent functions; ex- ecutive capital is Pretoria, legislative capital is Cape Town, and jurisdictive capital is Bloemfontein. And now I am about to tell you about Cape Town.
Cape Town Natives
Cape Town is full of colors. Europeans, Asian people and Af- rican people are living here together in a harmony. Actually in history, African local tribes were living here but when Europe- ans came here, the cultures began to mix with each other. Eu- ropeans who came here centuries ago, count themselves as South African and call them Africans. This is the home to Af- ricans, mixed blood, and European-Africans. There are many tribe languages while you can also hear Dutch and English. Money currency is South African Rand.
World-wide famous Cape of Good Hope
Cape Town has always been in the limelight for Europeans throughout the history. Although its history goes back thou- sands of years ago, 1488 is the date of its exploration on the documents. In 1488, Portuguese sailor Bartolomeu Dias set o to nd new trade and sea ways upon the order of the king of the time. Ottoman had trade and spice routes at that time and Europeans, who did not want to pay taxes to Ottomans, were looking for new trade routes and in 1488, Portuguese sailor and explorer Dias discovered Cape Town. The sailor, reaching Cape Town,CapeofGoodHope,couldnotgomorebecauseofheavy storm and waves. And names the cape he experienced such
