Bahçede, Afrika’nın ilk armut ağacı da koruma altına alınmış. Ananas, muz, elma ağaçlarını da görmek mümkün bu bahçe- de. Resmen bir botanik bahçesi görünümünde. Ayrıca bahçede birbirinden tatlı kazlar, ördekler ve sincaplarda yaşam sürüyor. Afrika’nın el değmemiş, bozulmamış doğası ve vahşi yaşamı şehrin merkezinde, bahçe bile korunuyor.
Yeşil Pazar Meydanı
Cape Town’un merkezinde gezilip, alışveriş yapılacak, gö- rülecek çok güzel meydanlar var. Bu meydanlardan biri de ta- rihi oldukça eskilere giden Yeşil Pazar Meydanı. Bu meydan 1560’lardan beri kullanılan bir pazar bölgesi. İlk başlarda kölele- rin satıldığı bu meydan ardından meyve sebze pazarına, sonra da hediyelik eşyaların satıldığı bir pazara dönüşüyor ve bugün de halâ bu amaca hizmet ediyor. Otantik, ilginç, yöresel ve sıra- dışı hediyelik eşya arayanlar muhakkak bu pazara gitmeli. İçimiz biraz burkuluyor, biraz şaşırıyor burada gezerken.
Meydanda gördüğümüz hediyelik eşyalar bizi oldukça şaşır- tıyor. Vahşi doğada yaşam süren hayvanların postları, doldurul- muş halleri, hayvan kemiklerinden yapılmış takılar, anahtarlıklar ve bir çok süs eşyası, herkesin ilgisini çekiyor.
Dünyanın Doğal Yedi Harikasından Biri: Masa Dağı
Bugüne kadar hep görmek istediğim yerlerden birini size an- latmak ne kadar keyi i olacak tahmin bile edemezsiniz... Hem- de bu dağ dünyanın yedi doğal harikasından biri. Kayıtlı, onaylı, belgeli bu doğal harika gerçekten de inanılmaz güzel bir yaradılış harikası. Zaten Cape Town denince akla ilk gelenler arasında bu dağ yer alıyor. Uzaktan bakınca Masa gibi bir görüntüye sahip olduğundan dolayı buraya Güney Afrikalılar masa adını vermiş- ler. Masa gibi olan bu dağ yaklaşık 1000 metre yüksekliğinde. Atlantik Okyanusu’na bakan bu dağa teleferiklerle çıkılıyor. Te- leferikle çıkma kısmı oldukça heyecanlı. Çünkü zirvesi öyle dik ve bir anda yükseliyor ki insanın içini ürpertiyor. Bu teleferik bir anda yükselen o zirveye nasıl çıkıyor diye insan şaşırıp kalıyor. Ama maden başladık bir maceraya yarım bırakmak olmaz deyip biniyorum upuzun sıradan sonra teleferiğe. The rst African Pear Tree is also under protection in this gar- den. It is possible to see pineapple, banana, apple trees in this garden; totally like a botanical garden. In the garden, there are ducks, gooses and squirrels live together. Untouched, protect- ed nature and wildlife of the Africa are in the center of the city, even the garden is protected.
Green Market Square
In the center of Cape Town there are very nice squares to be visited and shopping. One of them is the Green Market Square, which goes a lot back in history. This square is a market area that was since the 1560s. At rst it was a marketplace where slaves were sold, then turned into a fruit and vegetable market and then a marketplace where souvenirs are sold. And today it still serves this purpose. Those who are looking for authentic, interesting, local and unusual souvenirs should de nitely come to this market- place. We feel a little sad and surprised while we walk around here.
The souvenirs we see there are quite surprising. The peltry of animals living in the wild, the stu ed ones, the jewels the key chains and many ornaments made from animal bones attracts everyone.
One of seven great wonders on earth: Table Mountain
You cannot imagine how delightful it would be to tell you one of the places I’ve always wanted to see... This mountain is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Registered, ap- proved, certi ed; this great natural wonder is also an incredibly beautiful creation. This mountain is among the rst to come to mind when it comes to Cape Town anyway. Since they have a look like a table from a distance, the South Africans gave that name. This mountain, which is like a table, is about 1000mt. height. This mountain overlooking the Atlantic Ocean can be reached by cable car. The climbing with the cable car is quite exciting. People are stunned at how this summit is rising like out of nowhere while they are on this cable car. But I cannot leave an adventure in the half, so I waited on the line and got the cable car. It is an incredible queue to climb to the top of the table mountain. In a short time like 5-6 minutes, the top of the mountain can be reached by a 360 degree-turning cable car. You
