Bu topraklarda Fin hamamı ve sauna asırlardan beridir süre gelen bir kültür. Ülke nüfusu yaklaşık 5 milyon ve bu topraklarda 5 milyona yakın sauna bulunuyor. Yani nere- deyse kişi başına bir sauna düşüyor. Fakat artık burada sauna sektörü farklı bir noktada. Karavan sauna, otobüs sauna derken yüzen sauna da yapmışlar. Aileler doğa ile baş başa kalmak istediğinde yüzen saunaları tercih edi- yorlar. Ormanın içinde, göllerin üzerinde insan sonuna kadar dinlendiğini hissediyor.
Burada insanlar kışın -50 dereceleri gördüklerinden do- layı sauna olmadan yapamıyorlar. Üşümemek için vücut ısılarını maksimum arttırıp ardından dışarı çıkıyorlar. Sa- una sıcaklığı ile -50 derecelere çıkıldığına insan rahatla- dığını hissediyor. Bu nedenle tarihte olduğu gibi insanlar bugünde hâlâ sauna ve Fin hamamı kültürünü yaşatmaya devam ediyorlar. Doğan bebeği dahi saunaya sokuyorlar.
Kuzey Kutbu’nda yapılacak aslında çok şey var ama size birazda Finlandiya’nın Porvoo ve Turku şehirlerinden bahsetmek istiyorum. Bu iki şehir Helsinki’nin
hemen yanı başında yer alıyor ve doğal gü-
zellikleriyle turistlerin aklını başından alıyor.
Porvoo
Helsinki’ye yaklaşık 45 dakika-
lık mesafede bulunan bu güzel
şehir özellikle ahşaptan evle-
ri, gölü ve renkli mimarisiyle
dikkat çekiyor. Asırlardır kendi
özgün mimarisini korumayı
başaran Porvoo adeta bir kart-
postal görünümünde. Şehrin
tam ortasından geçen ve aynı
adı taşıyan Porvoo Nehri’nin iki
yanı ormanlarla çevrili. Trafiğin hiç
olmadığı, sakinlik dinginlik veren bu
şehir, Finlandiya’nın en zengin şehir- lerinden biri. Kişi başı gelirin 50 bin dolar olduğu şehir aynı zamanda ülkenin en çevreci olan şehirlerinden.
Şehirde görülecek nereler var hemen sayalım. Şehrin meşhur köşelerinden biri katedrali. 1200’lü yılların başın- da yapılan katedral tarih boyunca çok defa yanmış ama her defasında da restore edilerek yeniden hayata geçiril- miş. Bugün hâlâ kullanılan katedralin yanına yangına ted- bir amaçlı bir de minik bir kilise yapılmış.
Noel Meydanı da burada görülmesi gereken yerler arasın- da. Noel Meydanı ve caddesi Porvoo şehrinin en meşhur yerlerinden biri. Noel Meydanı denmesinin nedeni, Fin- landiya’da ilk Noel ağacının süslendiği yerin Porvoo’daki bu meydan olması. Noel yaklaşırken ülkede ilk önce bu meydandaki ağaç süslenirmiş. Noel Caddesi de oldukça renkli ve güzel bir cadde. Trafiğe kapalı, Arnavut kaldırım- lı taş yolları şehrin özgün ruhunu yansıtıyor. Restoranlar, kafeler bu cadde üzerinde yer alıyor. Nehrin kenarındaki minik ahşap evler de şehrin simgesi durumunda. Eskiden bu barakalar balıkçılar tarafından kullanılırken bugün ise restoran ve kafe olarak hizmet veriyor. Bu güzel şehri de gezdikten sonra rotamızı Turku’ya çeviriyoruz.
Enjoying the floating sauna
The Finnish sauna in this land is a culture of centuries. The population of the country is about 5 million and there are about 5 million saunas in this land. So there is a sauna per person. But now the sauna sector is heading towards a dif- ferent point. After caravan sauna and bus sauna, they have created the floating sauna. When families want to stay alone with nature, they prefer floating saunas. In the for- est, on the lakes, you may feel really rested.
People cannot do without a sauna because they experi- ence the temperatures below -50 degrees in winter. To avoid cold, they increase their body temperature to the maximum and then go out. After spending time in sau- na, people feel relaxed when they go out to -50 degrees. Hence, as in history, people still continue to experience the culture of Finnish sauna today. Even the newly born babies are put in the sauna.
There are so many things to do in the North Pole, but I would like to tell you about Porvoo and Turku in Finland. These two cities are located right next to Helsin- ki and they fascinate the tourists with their
natural beauty.
Porvoo
Located approximately 45 min- utes from Helsinki, this beauti- ful city attracts attention with its wooden houses, lake and colorful architecture. Porvoo, which has managed to pre- serve its original architecture for centuries, looks like a post- card. Forests surround the Por- voo River, which flows through the city and has the same name with the city. This city, where there is no traffic and which is very calm and relaxing, is one of the richest cities in Finland. The city, which has a per capita income of US$ 50,000 is also one of the most
environmentally friendly cities in the country.
Let’s count what we can see in the city. One of the famous sightseeing locations of the city is the cathedral. Built in the early 1200s, the cathedral has been burned many times throughout history, but each time it has been re- stored and rebuilt again. A small church was built next to the cathedral, which is still in use today.
One of the other sightseeing areas is the Christmas Square. Christmas square and street is one of the most famous places in Porvoo City. The reason why it is called Christ- mas Square is because it is the square in Porvoo, where the first Christmas tree is decorated in Finland. As Christ- mas approaches, the tree in this square is first decorated in the country. The Christmas Street is also very colorful and beautiful. This pedestrian, cobblestone roads reflect the original spirit of the city. There are many restaurants and coffee shops on this street. The tiny wooden houses by the river are the symbols of the city. Fishermen used these huts and today they serve as restaurants and coffee shops. After visiting this beautiful city, we are heading to Turku.
