Kuzeyin yıldız ülkesi İsveç veya resmi adıyla İsveç Krallığı, İskandinavya yarımadasında yer alan bir ülkedir. Ülkenin sınır komşuları batı ve kuzeyden Norveç doğudan ise Fin- landiya’dır. İsveç bunun dışında güneyinde yer alan Ore- sund Köprüsü ile Danimarkaya bağlıdır ve Baltık Denizi ile Botni Körfezi’nin batı kıyılarında yer alır. Uzun kıyılara sa- hip olan İsveç bu özellikleriyle, İskandinavya yarımadası- nın doğu yakasını oluşturur. Ülkenin batısında ülkeyi Nor- veç’ten ayıran İskandinavya dağları (Skanderna) yer alır.
İsveç, Yaklaşık 450 bin km2 olan yüzölçümüyle, Avrupa Birliği ülkeleri arasında en büyük üçüncü ülkedir. Ülkenin toplam nüfusu ise 10,2 milyondur. Ancak nüfus yoğunlu- ğu güneye doğru gidildikçe ivmeli şekilde artmakta. Çün- kü ülkenin kuzeyi çok soğuk olduğundan insanlar güney- de yaşıyorlar. Nüfusun büyük bir kısmı İsveç’in başkenti aynı zamanda ülkedeki en büyük kent olan Stokholm’de yaşıyor. Başkentte, 1,3 milyonu merkezde olmak üzere 2 milyon insan yaşıyor. Ülkenin diğer büyük kentleri sırasıy- la Göteborg ve Malmo’dür.
Sweden, the star of the north or officially the Kingdom of Sweden, is a country located on the Scandinavian penin- sula. The country’s border neighbors are Norway in the west and in the north and Finland in the east. Sweden is connected to Denmark by Öresund Bridge and located on the western shores of the Baltic Sea and Gulf of Botni. Sweden, with its long coasts, forms the eastern side of the Scandinavian peninsula. On the west of the country, the Scandinavian mountains (Skanderna) are located.
By area, it is the third-largest country in the European Union, at approximately 450,000 square kilometers. The total population of the country is 10.2 million. Howev- er, the population density increases rapidly as we move south. Because the north of the country is very cold, people live in the south. A large part of the population lives in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, which is also the largest city in the country. 2 million people live in the capital, 1.3 million of which are living in the center. The other major cities of the country are Gothenburg and Malmo, respectively.
